Carin Bonifacino
Carin has been an advocate of green burial since the early 2000’s and is excited to have the opportunity to reach more people with information about this after death alternative through Friends of Green Burial PA. Carin spent the first half of her life working in horticulture and small scale farming and, after two significant deaths in her family, decided to switch careers at mid-life. After attending One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in New York, Carin became an ordained minister in 2019 and now officiates funerals and memorial services for people from all walks of life. She is also an end of life doula and a death educator who teaches workshops and classes on a variety of topics related to the end of life.

Emily Maroni
Emily Maroni is a communicator and an advocate for green burial, sustainability, green spaces, inclusivity, and more. She received her Master of Environmental Studies degree from the University of Pennsylvania in December 2023, with a concentration in sustainability. Her master's thesis explored awareness and attitudes toward natural burial, conducting a large-scale online survey to get a better sense of how Americans feel about it and what factors impact their willingness to consider the option. Emily works as a Senior Research Coordinator at the Annenberg Public Policy Center at Penn. She also performs with and volunteers on the creative team for the Philadelphia Freedom Band, an LGBTQ+ community band. She is excited for the chance to educate about and advocate for green burial across the state.

Elaine Brooks
Landenberg-based weaver Elaine Brooks' commitment to the environment is visible in her creative work over the past several years -- by using only repurposed and reclaimed fabrics in all of her products. Elaine's dedication to creating a cleaner, greener future is paramount to her philosophy and extends not only to what we do while we live on this earth but how we leave it as well. Elaine is thrilled to funnel this philosophy into her work with Carin in an effort to teach others about the green burial movement, the dignity of its practice, its many options and its belief that we are all one with the earth, both in life and beyond.
